Selah's
2011 litter of 10 was whelped May 14, 2011 Email theodays2003@yahoo.com or call 812-342-7421 for current puppy availability. Note to potential puppy homes: We will not know which puppy is best for your family until they are 6-8 weeks and have been personality tested by us and by an outside source that has never seen the litter. This blog is just our way of introducing all the pups and keeping those interested updated on the litter. Although we know it is hard, please try not to get attached to any one pup. :)
8/13/11- It has been a while since a blog update. We have been very busy getting puppies settled with their new families, visiting family in Michigan and preparing for our school year. We have received pictures and updates for most Five Star families which we really appreciate! Below are pictures of the pups with their new families. We are delighted that our puppies have gone to such wonderful homes! Here is a report from Doolie's (Bruno's) family: Hello Judy, Bruno and Ellie:
Mandy says...."we love our Turner" and it shows in how well kept he looks! Turner in his new home below:
They promised me they would not spoil Daisy (Ryleigh) below, hmmmm...although I have to admit, it was hard not to spoil this one.
Ruger: 7/12/11 - Great day yesterday as we met Mandy to deliver Turner (a.k.a. Dutch)! Turner was a good pup for the car ride, although I think he was a bit bored by it as he kept climbing in my lap to look out the window. Mandy said he spent the final hours of his trip sleeping on their laps. When they arrived home he met Richard and Sophie and right away he and Sophie were friends! They sure will have a lot of fun playing over the next couple of months. Below are pictures of Mandy, Richard and Sophie welcoming Turner in to their lives. What a great family for Turner to have gone to. Five Star puppy families are simply the best!!
7/10/11 - Things have been happening so fast around here our heads are spinning! Late Friday evening Lefty (now Sheldon) was placed in a great home with Ben in Indianapolis. Ben spent several hours here visiting with us and it was fun getting to know him. He and Sheldon are going to be great friends we can tell already. That makes three pups that will be right here in Indiana, something that we have never experienced before and are very excited about. Today Ryleigh (a.k.a. Daisy) went to be with her family in WI. We are looking forward to pictures of her in her new home soon! And, yesterday Tina came for Gladys (who is now known as Bella!). Below is a picture of Tina and Bella. Bella slept most of the way home to KY and is adjusting well to her new family. We are so glad that Tina and her family chose a Five Star Dobe and are looking forward to getting to know them better in the future.
Also, on Saturday we made a few changes in placement and Harley is going all the way to Washington State to Mike and Rachel!! Harley will be Mike and Rachel's first Doberman but they have done a lot of research and are committed to raising Harley well! We have two pups yet to place, Jeannie and Bear. It is kind of funny that they are the final two as we have had more interest in those two pups than any other pup! Another big day tomorrow as we travel to West Virginia to meet up with Dutch's new family! Then it is on to North Carolina for him. Our third Dobie to reside in North Carolina!! Looking forward to the leisurely day of driving as it is always a pleasure to drive through eastern KY and the mountains of West Virgina. 7/8/11 -Doolie will be going to a wonderful home with Grant, Jennifer, their two children, and Duchess the Dobe, out west. Here is a picture of Doolie's new family. Their active lifestyle is absolutely perfect for Doolie who is the ultimate "love the outdoors" dog. Below Doolie is doing what Doolie does best, just chillin'. When all the other pups come inside, Doolie loves to stay outside and lie in the sun or shade.
7/7/11 - Some pictures from today's am playtime. Pups will be 8 weeks old on Saturday. Lefty Jeannie:

Now our days are spent playing, feeding, and taking puppies for potty trips outside! And that is pretty much all we have time to do! Pups are so big and growing so fast. Combined they eat 21 cups of puppy food a day!! We have moved most of them in to crates for the evening, although 3 pups still stay in whelping box overnight due to space issues. The pups that are crated are not messing in their crates and their crying was much less last night, only lasting about 5 minutes. It is completely normal for a pup to cry when it is taken away from its littermates the first couple of times but, they settled in to their new routine and surroundings very quickly. So glad we heard from Tim and Ashleigh regarding Rocco's (previously known as Buck) first night away from home. Hello Judy- Buck's journey started yesterday when we left your place for the 1 hour drive home. He was very well behaved and sat (slept) on Ashleigh's lap the whole time. He did not whine at all.
7/5/11 - update: Congratulations to a very sweet couple, Tim and Ashleigh. Tonight they took home a wonderful pup, Buck. We sure are sorry to see Buck go but happy for the wonderful loving care he will be receiving in their home. Buck will be starting his puppy training this week and may be named after a world famous sidekick. More on that later!
Congratulations to Debbie and her family on their new family member! 7/5/11 - It has been a very busy weekend. On Saturday, we had a vist from Debbie and her two wonderful (and very beautiful) daughters, Nicole and Cara! They drove from Green Bay, WI. to see their girl Daisy and to meet us! We spent several hours with them and thoroughly enjoyed hearing all about their life with Dobes. Debbie also brought us some Wisconsin cheese which we have missed so much since we left there! We have been enjoying it all weekend. And, of course we had to discuss the Packers. There can be no discussion between (current or past) residents of Wisconsin with out at least a cursory mention of the greatest football team evah! Can't wait to see Daisy with her Packer bandana. :) Also, on Saturday morning we were able to take pups to their aptitude test. It went great and the results were pretty much what we expected with a few surprises. They all scored well. Their scores, our experiences here with them and individual family situations is the start of how we match pups with families. They played so hard between and were so excited about their first car ride that they came home and slept for hours. It was the first time we have heard snoring from the whelping box! Sunday brought more puppy visitors and fireworks which equaled more excitement for puppies. Monday they got their pool and a few have put their feet in. Also, Monday night they started their crate training. We put two pups together and will mix up the pairs everynight. This is to help ease their adjustments in to their new families and to being away from the litter. Also, everyone got a new collar and their nails done. Hopefully we will have pool pics to post later! 7/1/11 - Puppy Aptitude Test had to be rescheduled for this weekend due to illness. Hopefully we will get it done in the next couple of days. Puppies had their first shots yesterday! Everything went without incidence. Puppies sat so quietly and not one yelp from any of them. Madi was able to get these pictures of Dutch (a.k.a Mr. Auburn Man) playing in the yard and attempting to engage Citrus in his antics. Have I mentioned that Citrus is a very tolerant cat?
Our neighbors stopped by to pay a visit to the pups:
6/29/11 - Tomorrow is a big day for all the pups. We will be taking them for their puppy aptitude test. The evaluation of how each puppy performs on this test will help decide on the best placement. A proper match between family and puppy is vital [link]. But it surely is not an "end all". We only get pups started in the right direction with proper socialization and do our best to place them in the right home for both them and new puppy owner. But, the puppies' new home is far more influential in how well the pup will behave around people and other animals in the future. Here is an example. At about 9 months the pups kind of "come in to their own" and realize, "hey I am a Doberman". This is especially true of males. What the owner does or does not do at this crucial time will either make for a very well adjusted confident dog or a dog that may become more agressive against other dogs and overly protective due to pup's lack of knowledge about the world. It is vital that during this time the pup is taken places and meets other dogs and understands boundries. Here is another example. If you have other big dogs around the puppy and they play rough with each other and with the puppy, it will scare the puppy and puppy may become fear agressive. This situation can not be allowed to just play itself out. It has to managed by the owner. If puppy is afraid all the time, it will grow up afraid! Also, many people do not like to put puppy on a schedule but that is exactly what puppy needs to feel secure and confident and will make your time with puppy much more pleasant. Just like people, a puppy can feel fear, be frazzled and stressed, feel lonely and upset. Although our first 8 weeks are crucial, it becomes important what happens in the permanent puppy home after that. And speaking of confidence, that is Harley D. From the start he has carried himself with confidence and purpose. He is investigative and curious. An example: We live near a large military training facility and are in their flight path. Today we had low flying airplanes that make a lot of noise. As the first one flew over all the puppies froze unsure of what to do. But not Harley, he hesitated briefly and then trotted out to the middle of their play area and looked around attempting to find the source of the noise. As a bonus, Harley is a very nicely conformed pup and all pics below are of him hanging out with Madi. A white mark is allowed in the standard but even if it were not, it would not make him less of a Dobe and an excellent example of what the breed should be at that. Harley:
6/27/11 - Here in Indiana we do a lot of Standardbred (the flying horse) Racing . Madi has been at one of the Fairground tracks taking pics for her 4H poster. Here is one of her favorite drivers. These drivers have nerves of steel. A group of 6 - 8 of them (sometimes 10) rolling down these tracks with 2 and 3 year old horses. Sometimes the horse behind a driver is literally breathing on his neck all the while trotting or pacing 30-40 miles per hour (almost cheetah speed!). There is no room for error. If you ever get the chance to ride in the "gate car" do so. It will give you chill bumps. This job is not for the faint of heart.
Which brings me to the puppies, below are some pics of Bear and Doolie. Both are all Dobe. Lots of bone, lots of confidence, lots of presence and nice looking to boot. I kind of think of them like these Standardbred sulky drivers. Very tough and they will get the job done, whatever it may be. Our pups are raised in such a way that they LOVE their people. They will gladly leave their food or playing with their litter mates to play with us. Lots of handling and attention showered on them daily. Yet a properly bred Doberman has security in their genes and when called on would do their job to the death. Several weeks ago someone came to our house to do a repair. Though we'd never met him before, for some strange reason he decided to come in without knocking. Gigi and Selah were snoozing 20 or 30 feet away, but got there in what seemed like 1 second. He heard them coming and closed the door in about 7/8 of a second, without ever setting a foot inside. After I told them he was OK he was able to come in and do his job. Taught the fella some manners, they did. Heh heh!

6/26/11 - Puppies keep us busy, busy, busy. They are becoming more and more active with each day. We start working on their "recall" at 6 weeks and that is going exceptionally well. Now we will begin to spend more time taking each puppy from the litter. We are adding to the obstacle course and have a tiny jump and something for them to climb on. This is so important for building their confidence to handle strange or different settings. We give them different footings, sounds, obstacles and textures in a controlled environment to help prevent them from being fearful as they mature. We also have put them on a schedule where they eat 3 times a day though they are outside 5 or 6 times. We have heard back from litter A and B puppy owners about the ease they have had with house breaking. That is because of the schedule that we start our pups on. They have already started controlling their elimination in the whelping box by going in to a separate area that has shavings. Madison was able to take Gladys and Jeannie out for some pictures that are below. Gladys:
Jeannie:
On a side note: we were visited by this young Blue Heron on Friday. Guess he just stopped by on his way to somewhere! We kind of hope he comes back.
6/23/11 - Congratulations to Louise and Dan on their new addition! Bonus: they are right here in Indiana so we can go visit puppy!! Puppies are now going up and down steps (amazing for their age!!). They respond to us calling them and follow us around the house and yard. Madison built them a mini obstacle course and guess who was the first one through AND the first one to perform the maze correctly? It was Doolie!! Today I was out gardening near their play area and Bear came over to visit. He could not get right next to me so he settled for lying down nearby and staring at me, patiently waiting until I was finished. Meanwhile Doolie would come over to bark occasionally, just saying "Hi" I guess. As playtime winds down and we bring them back inside, we leave their whelping box open so they can put themselves to bed (which they almost all do) and who is the first one to bed every single time? Izzy Pop. Sometimes Harley D. has to be made to go to bed and Gladys and Jeannie are usually found carrying flip flops around. Several puppies have discovered Citrus the cat. She is very tolerant of puppies. :) :) Earlier today Madison and Caroline took Daisy out to play. All the pictures below are our girl Daisy. I have to confess she is a bit spoiled by all the attention she has received, being the smallest in the litter and all.
6/19/11 - Congratulations to Tricia and Dante on getting his WAE (working aptitude evaluation)!! Below is a report from Tricia: Hi Judy, Just tried to call you, but I bet you are having a busy weekend! Anyway, you should be so proud of the work you are doing for this majestic breed. Dante is the epitome of what the doberman should be. He showed no fear during his WAE, towards the rattle can, pistol, umbrella, or the uneven surfaces he had to walk across. Some people don't put enough emphasis on this part of the test, but boy is my guy bullet proof! He did not flinch once! When they fired the pistol, he barley looked back over his shoulder and continued on. He approached the friendly and neutral strangers, but was neither overly friendly or shy. The thing that amazed me the most was the way he dealt with the aggressive decoy. His hackles went up immediately and he placed himself between the decoy and myself. He let out a low growl and had a very forward stance. Then when the decoy started to agitate, he went ballistic, very sharp quick barks and at this point moved forward to bite. (all this without ever having done Schutzhund training) As soon as the decoy ran off and hid behind the blind, he gave one last look to where he disappeared and deeming himself the victor, returned to his normal happy goofy self! It was amazing!! There was a photographer there, so when the pictures become available, I will send you some. So proud, and I can't wait to test Dash next! As always, thanks for my awesome boys! I always feel safe when they are around! Take care!
Also yesterday, Cole and Gigi (our spayed 71/2 yr. old girl) showed obedience and showmanship at our local 4H Dog Club! They have been working for several weeks on their off lead down - stay and sit -stay. They did great and were Reserved Champion in their division! Gigi is our "poster child". She is the reason we do what we do. She has vwb, is z factored and has a host of other problems associated with Dobermans. But yesterday, even though she was uncomfortable and in some pain, all she wanted to do was please Cole. Dobermans are very stoic. They hide their discomfort very well so you have to always be aware of what is going on with them.
Our little girl, Daisy, is catching up: Daisy again (she is all legs!): Playtime in the tunnel, Harley D leads the way followed by Gladys~as usual:

6/15/11 - Congratulations to Grant and Jennifer on their new family addition! Pictures from yesterday's playtime. Harley D and Jeannie:
6/13/11 - Lots has been happening around Five Star. Puppies turned 4 weeks old on Saturday. Boy are they motoring around, checking out their world, starting to spread their wings a bit. From now until the pups go to their new homes we stay pretty close to home. Every couple of hours we wake the puppies up from their naps, take them outside, feed them and let them play for a while. We have put a few "toys" for them outside...a box opened on both ends, Brian made a ramp that we can gradually raise, and we put up their tunnel which they adore. Harley was the first one through the tunnel and figured out that if he jumped on the side of it, he could roll it (and his littermates) around a bit. Very fun to watch. Today some friends came over and met the puppies.
One sad note: just tonight I was contacted by two different families who recently lost their beloved Dobes. One Dobe was 14 (yes!!) but the other was only 8 1/2. Sadly we hear of folks losing their Dobes at age 8 or even younger a lot more than we hear of Dobes passing of old age. This is the primary reason we do what we do. To all potential puppy owners: INSIST ON HEALTH TESTING from whomever you purchase your next Dobe. No, it is not a guarantee of never having a problem BUT it is a very good start.
6/11/11 - Last night the puppies had visitors from Indianapolis. We welcome visits from potential puppy homes. This gives the visitor a chance to see what Five Star is all about and gives Five Star a chance to see what they are all about. :) Any reputable breeder should welcome visitors. If you are looking for a Dobe and live close to the breeder, request a visit and have your questions on hand. Here is a secret my Dad told me that I will share: all puppies are cute! This may seem obvious but know that you will fall in love with the puppies so be prepared with your questions AND ask them while there! One thing I really respected about last nights visitors is they did not offer to make a deposit which I thought they might. We had already decided before meeting them that we could not accept a deposit with just one contact. It turns out after meeting and talking with them that we believe they would offer a very good home for one of our pups but they wisely are taking time to think things over and presumably discuss bringing a very active puppy into their life. A Dobe puppy should not be an impulse buy! It is a long term commitment with a lot of responsibilities attached. I always, always tell folks a puppy is like bringing an infant in to your house! Be prepared to get up in the middle of the night, to clean up messes, to have your schedule revolve around the puppy (not the other way around), to not leave puppy for long periods and to have LOTS and LOTS of love and patience as well as discipline. It is a fact: an unruly, undisciplined puppy will set you up for plenty of unpleasant times in the future. BUT, here is what you get after those short months: years of complete dovation and loyalty, well mannered companionship, fun, lots of compliments and protection. Dobermans are called "velcro" dogs for a reason.
6/10/11 - Our friend and 2 time Five Star Dobe puppy owner Tricia makes the most beautiful custom collars. They are leather with all sorts of sparkly things like rhinestones and silver pieces. They have very large heavy duty silver buckles and rings. Below is a picture of one of her great collars, called the Selah collar in honor of our girl. :) She and her husband John recently adopted Dash who is from our B litter. Dash's owner went active duty military and could no longer keep Dash so we brought him home and kept him for a while before he went to live with Tricia and John. Both Dash and Dante are amazing and Tricia is doing all sorts of things with them like search and rescue, agility and obedience. Tricia and I agree that there is no other dog like a Dobe. If you ever have one there is no going back to any other breed. They truely are the "cadillac of dogs". The Selah collar: Dante:

6/08/11 - Lots has been happening with the puppies. They are growing so fast and changing so quickly it is hard to keep up. With each day that passes, their personalities are starting to be more individual. One girl keeps her nose to the ground and is a bit bolder and less worried about being away from the litter....a search and resue dog maybe? Another girl is leaping on to things and whirls around in play... possibly agility is in her future? A boy has the most beautiful head and large expressive eyes...conformation or junior showmanship? Yet another is a gentle giant who loves to be held and loved on and will sit in your lap all day... Below are pictures taken today:
5/30/11 -
5/29/11 - Last night we received the below email from Jodie and her family. It really motivates us to do our best to breed the healthiest family orientated Doberman possible when we receive such emails. Moose is from Selah's litter B.
“ Moose is the best! He is the craziest dog I have EVER met in my life--everyday he makes us laugh! His new thing is chasing lizards. He tries his best to pounce on them but all that's happened is that I've lost a few bushes and plants due to his determination. Chris has FINALLY taught him how to swim. It took him forever to “get it”. I have recently started running with him. He LOVES to run and I really enjoy our time together. He also loves my car! It’s the weirdest thing. My car is like is special quiet place. If he’s stressed out or hyper all I have to say is “go get in the truck” and off he goes. I leave the back open and he just lays in the back and chills. The neighbors think it’s hilarious. I did get his flip on video. As crazy as he is, he is also a big love. He loves to lay all over me or the kids or Chris. He’s so big that if he wants to lay on you, then you’re sort of stuck. He loves to be scratched on his neck and he can bend his head all the way to his back. I think he’s around 88 pounds or so. He’s spoiled rotten and we just love him to pieces.” Jodie 5/27/11 - We have been without power several times in the last two days so have not been able to update the blog but, aside from 7 trees down in our pasture (yes, 7!!) everyone made it through okay. All pups now have their eyes open and are moving around on shakey legs! News pics will be posted this weekend. Due to the shine and general healthy appearance of Gigi and Selah a very frequent question for Five Star is what food do we feed. The short answer is Earthborn Holistic and Propac, both of which are made by Midwestern Pet Foods right here in southern Indiana. We use to feed and recommend another food that was also made in Indiana but they were bought out and immediately changed the formula (for the worse). And that brings us to the long answer. You have to constantly be checking the bag and watching for changes in your dogs to know if a formula has changed. So often we hear of the passing of a beloved Dobe due to health problems at a young age and while health testing and careful pedigree analysis can improve the chances of longevitity, environment, including diet, is just as big a factor. When feeding your Dobe don't be "penny wise and pound foolish". Research and then research some more and be prepared to spend a bit more for the good stuff. Also, keeping your dog on the lean side seems to help. That has been our experience here at Five Star with our adult dogs. Everytime I step in to the whelping box I am simply amazed at the shine and silkiness of the pups coats. They are like velvet to touch. We are feeding Selah Earthborn Holistic Puppy Vantage with some fresh eggs and fat mixed in occasionally and she is keeping up with all 10 with no problems.
5/24/11-Puppies are progressing along nicely. A few of their eyes are beginning to open. They are all really starting to motor around. It doesn't take them much time to find Mom anymore. Selah is so good as they can be very enthusiastic when nursing but Mom just bears it all. We will be clipping nails tonight or tomorrow which serves two purposes: to keep Mom from getting so scratched up during nursing time and to prepare puppies to have their nails trimmed as they mature. I have been getting an interesting question when people contact us about the litter which I really have not gotten in the past. The question is what is the weight and height on the sire and dam? This is a very good question and tells me that potential Dobe owners are doing their research. The reason for the question is simple: will these puppies grow into oversized or "warlock" Dobes which may have a predisposition toward the health problems normally associated with very large breeds? Five Star breeds to standard. The height and weight of Indy and Selah are listed below. Five Star's goal is to breed for health and temperament first. We do not believe that the average age of a Dobie should be 7 and hope that we are doing our part to change that. Does that mean that every Five Star pup will be perfectly in the standard? No. Does every child in a family look alike or does a child ever outgrown his/her parents? Of course. But we make every effort to ensure that all our puppies mature in to the Doberman standard. And, we are happy that folks are asking questions and doing research as this will only help to improve the health of the breed overall. Keep it up! Indy: 27.5 height, weight 90 lbs. Today the puppies weigh: 5/22/11 - The consensus around here is that "Arnie" is now "Bear". The Arnie that he was named after is getting way too much bad publicity of late. 1 week birthday photos:
5/21/11 - Happy 1 week birthday! Today Selah and the pups were left alone for several hours for the first time since last Saturday. Everything went fine. Great news as Daisy weighed in over 16 oz, we are all very relieved. Arnie keeps zooming and weighed 32.5!! I want to change his name to Bear b/c his paws look like little bear paws. Weights today are: 5/20/11 - A small milestone...the first night no one slept near the whelping box. Both Madi and I feel like new people with all that sleep we were able to get! Mom and pups did great! Daisy is doing fantastic, she was weighed this morning and she is up again! She will not give up the fight!!! Pics below: Why does everyone want to eat at the same time? Selah is such a good Mom. And, I think Madi is just a wee bit tired! Weights today are:
5/19/11 - From the whelping box: Buck here. Yesterday was a big day. I figured out that I could bark!! I tried out my new skill through out the day but especially when I wanted to eat. It worked pretty well and Mom would come sniff me and check me over when I did it. And who is this Haydn guy anyway? Today we weigh:
5/18/11 - An update on Daisy's weight ~ she just weighed in at 12.4!! Woohoo going in the right direction! Madison and Cole found a fawn in the woods behind our home. They brought it home thinking it needed help but actually was incredible healthy. DNR said to take it back and Mom would find it okay. We don't need another mouth to feed right now!!!
The puppies' coats are so shiny and soft. We love to pick them up and nuzzle them against our cheeks and they nudge under our chin and gunt and squeal and squirm. What a joy they are!! Selah is such a good Mother and hardly leaves the box. She is eating well and a lot! We want to make sure she stays strong and keeps providing lots of milk for everyone! (Cole just walked by, he says..."seriously Mom, Opera for the puppies?" ~ I say...hey, a little Verdi is good for anyone, tomorrow Mozart!)
Madison is so tired! She is an awesome helper with the pups. Last night she told me to go to bed and she would watch over the pups and Selah. I took her up on it but will be the puppy watcher tonight so she can finally get some sleep! Weighed Daisy first thing this morning and disappointed to learn that she had not gained any. Hopeful that with lots of "palm holding" and helping her along that she will today. We are excited to report that she is the only one that remains on the watch list. Jeanie reached the coveted 16 oz this morning. Go Jeanie!!! Weights today: 5/17/11 - From the whelping box: Gladys here. Today was mostly nursing and snoozing, with a little Verdi last night. Harley D keeps rolling me off the heating pad with his nose. Isn't that just like a boy! He says we should start a band and call it Gladys O'Day and the Pupps. It's an idea. The really tall man picked most of us up and showed us around the house, humming and putting us near his heart to comfort us. Even Izzy-Pop, who seems to squawk most of the time she's not having breakfast or 2nd breakfast or elevensies or. . ., well you get the idea, even Izzy-Pop quieted down right away 'cause of his humming & petting. I like people! Today we weigh: 5/16/11 - Today puppies traveled to Hillview Vet in Franklin and Dr. Clark did the tails and dew claws. Selah rode with so she wouldn't be stressed while the pups were away. While they were done, we took a short walk and than sat in the car and waited. Selah was so patient and trusting! Judy was worried that Daisy might not be strong enough for the procedures to be done but she did great and had gained an oz from her birth weight by nightfall! A great sign and very encouraging! But she is not out of the woods yet. Good news for Buck who was taken off the list but we put Lefty on as he went down a bit then rebounded back to his whelping weight later in the day. Weights today are: 5/15/11 - Day 2 after not much sleep last night. Madison set up her mattress beside the whelping box so she and Judy could be "on call" all night. We put a couple of pups on the "watch list" which means we spend hours holding them in our palm to help them stay latched on and not get moved off Mom by their bigger siblings and called our vet friend at St. Francis Pet Hospital to make sure we are doing everything we can to help them along. Buck, Jeanie and Daisy are on the list. We weighed Daisy several times throughout the day and worried she might succumb to "fading puppy syndrome". Madison and Brian stay optimistic but Judy is not so sure. We try to keep Daisy interested in nursing by constantly putting her to nurse and have attempted to give milk replacer several times. Here are the weights for today:
5/14/11 - The big day! 6 boys and 4 girls whelped. It took about 9 hours. All black and rust. We are all very tired but probably not as tired as Selah! Such a good girl, she did a great job and is very proud of her litter!! 6:50 am - Lefty (m-red ribbon) 17 oz. Congratulations to Sussie and Ingvar on their male puppy!
